Bassano was a sweet surprise :) I hadn't expected much, but I ended up really enjoying my time in this historical city situated right below the mountains.
Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), also known as Ponte deli Alpini (Alpini's Bridge), is a wooden bridge over the river Brenta designed by Andrea Palladio in 1569. It has been destroyed multiple times, including in World War II. In the 18th century, the Brenta River was an important means of communication from the mountains of Grappa to Venice.
Viale dei Martiri
"Martyrs' Avenue" is named for the 31 Italian Partisans that were hung from trees by the occupying Germans after a raid in the nearby mountains in 1944.
So We Got Stranded...
My friend and I missed the train we were supposed to catch to head back home, so we spent another 2 hours drinking lots of espresso and exploring around the city while we waited for the next train.
