Many of my friends have moved to different cities since I last visited Honduras, and so I decided to go visit them in San Pedro Sula in the northern part of the country. I first stayed with Kenia and Doris in a part of the city called San Manuel.
This was a nice area. It felt so much more calm and safe than the busy Tegucigalpa, and people around town were are friendly and kind to us.
We spent most of our time together at home, cooking traditional Honduran food that I have missed so much!
I wish I could've had a longer visit, but it was so good to spend at least a short amount of time with these girls that I love so dearly!
Visiting Heidy and Bayron (and my baby nephew!!)
After spending time with Kenia and Doris, I head over to see Heidy, Bayron, and their new baby in the village where they live, just outside of San Pedro Sula. I was so happy to meet my new little nephew and Bayron's extended family. Everyone in the village was so welcoming and treated me like family.
Many families here invited me into their homes to share meals and get to know one another. I love the sense of community here and the beautiful greenery in the area.
There is a river not too far away from the village, and so one of the days I was there, Bayron's sister took me and some of the other family members on a walk down to the river for a picnic, swimming, fishing, and playing in the sand.
Honduras will always have a special place in my heart, and I am so thankful for the time I've had with these wonderful people. I am honored by their friendship.
